In 1991, Dr. Helton received his degree from Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by a general rotating internship with a surgical emphasis in 1992. He also assisted in creating an ER residency program at MSU and taught as an Associate Clinical Professor and acted as residency trainer, while at the same time giving many scientific and clinical lectures.
He then moved to California, where he attended the Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, completing a four-year Dermatology residency, followed by an American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery residency, which he completed in 2002. Additionally, from 2001 to 2003, he operated as clinical trainer for Lumenis Laser Corporation.
Dr. Helton is currently in private practice in Newport Beach, California, at Western University of Health Sciences, where he is an Associate Clinical Professor and provides training to physician assistant students and dermatology residents.
His specialty is in improving his patients’ appearance through non-surgical means. As one of the nation’s most renowned cosmetic dermatologists, he uses not just his medical knowledge but artistic and creative knowledge as well to ensure that his patients receive only the best results. Dr. Helton has five years of experience injecting Restylane® and a decade injecting Botulinum Toxin A (Botox®).
