Moises D Irizarry-Roman, MD
Moisés D Irizarry-Román, MD, is a Board Certified Family Medicine and Sports Medicine Physician. He received his medical degree from Universidad Central del Caribe, School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Hospital Universitario Ramon Ruiz Arnau, subsequently joining University of Mississippi, School of Medicine to follow his passion training in Sports Medicine.
Before moving into private practice, Dr Irizarry-Román was the head of Mercy Hospital Sports Medicine, in Miami, where he also was the head of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound.
Dr Irizarry-Román has written several medical articles featured in Box Life magazine. He is a consultant for Univision’s ‘Noticias Univisión Edición Nocturna’ (nightly news) and ‘Mira Quién Baila’ (Spanish version of Dancing with the Stars), and also works as a medical expert for Telemundo’s 'Caso Cerrado' (people’s court). He has also been a consultant for Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Ranch Challenge.
Over the years he has been known in the CrossFit community as The BoxDoc, where he has covered multiple major CrossFit competitions. As a Sports Physician dedicated to the community, Dr Irizarry-Román has served as team physician for the Mississippi Braves, Dixie Rodeo, Gulliver Schools, Carrolton, Miami FC and the Puerto Rico Islanders, among others.
He is currently a member of the AMSSM, A4M, and AAFP.
Dr Irizarry-Román has made extensive use of PRP over the years in the treatment and prevention of injuries of his athletes and elite athletes, and has been involved in clinical research in the PRP and Stem Cells fields. He continues to educate physicians, students and athletes in the benefits of procedures such as PRP, as he continues to strive to offer patients the best in non-operative intervention for quick return to play.
